Center for Family Life places great importance on the value of evaluation. We produce an annual "Progress Report" describing our programs and detailing their performance. Now, we are pleased to make our most recent report, covering fiscal year 2008, online in PDF format.

Preface

Center for Family Life’s 2008 Progress Report reflects our continued efforts to strengthen families, support the positive development of youth, and build community in Sunset Park. Since 1978, the Center has grown with the Sunset Park community, responding to emerging needs while remaining grounded in the vision of our founders, Sister Mary Paul and Sister Geraldine. Today, the Center’s comprehensive programs in counseling, employment, education, arts and recreation engage more than 13,000 individuals each year.

Since its inception, the Center’s work has drawn on the energy and strengths of the Sunset Park community. Each year has brought new challenges, but with each challenge is an opportunity to grow and learn with the youth and families who call Sunset Park home. The incredible vitality of our diverse neighborhood continues to guide our practice and give purpose to our daily work.

At the core of the Center’s work is a conscious effort to create communities that care —communities that build trust and inclusion, foster growth, and release potential. Throughout our programs, in settings as diverse as homes, schools, workplaces, playgrounds and public spaces, we partner with Sunset Park residents to provide services characterized by a facilitative form of care that transcends background and status and empowers participants to become their most realized selves.

We are immensely grateful to the friends and supporters—including public agencies and foundation and corporate partners—who enable the Center to remain a crucial resource for children and families in Sunset Park.
